Bina (she/her)

For the first time, Bina discovered her passion for shibari in India. At first, she only had the experience of being tied, but soon found interest in learning the art of tying to share it with others. For over three years she travelled to meet other shibari practitioners from all over the world to exchange knowledge and develop her skills. In Thailand, she completed an aerial yoga teacher training to get more familiar with the human anatomy and breathing techniques, which are essential for shibari. In India, Thailand, Bali and Nepal she learned about Thai and Ayurvedic massage, meditation, spirituality, kundalini activation and tantra practices. Sexological Bodywork also profoundly inspired her work. Movement practices like ecstatic dance and contact improvisation influenced her style of shibari too. Bina is a performer for festivals and events including fire shows, dance and shibari suspensions. She worked in circus pedagogy in Switzerland and in South Africa to improve her circus skills and teach people from various ethnic and socio-cultural backgrounds. Currently, Bina offers shibari sessions, workshops and retreats and teaches circus besides being a social worker. She organises co-creative gatherings and is facilitator of the 7 Vibes Journey and Ecstatic Dance Zurich. To recharge her energy, she spends time in nature with ski touring and rock climbing and has a routine of breathwork, ice bathing and yoga.

Bina holds her sessions and workshops in English, German or Spanish.

Some of Bina's creations outside the world of shibari.

In some of her workshops and retreats, Bina collaborates with Urban.

Urban (he/him)

Urban has handled rope since he was a small kid. Now he grew big and still loves climbing and breathtaking stuff. In between he was occupied studying fine art, playing theater, engineering, doing acupressure, activism and living polyamourous relationships.

What drew him into bondage some years ago was the curiosity to experience other roles than being the active and determinative part in romantic relations. Quickly finding out there was much more to explore.

In the sessions he gives, symmetry of lines and hitches don't matter too much to him as long as the feeling is right. His main focus is emotion. He loves to play the full broad range: Disgust to tension, pain to arousal, exposed to shame, excitement to threat, sadness to feeling held. Following the dramaturgy of his play one wouldn't guess he's improvising. His engagement feels incredibly present and connected, still light and effortless.

Urban holds sessions and workshops in German, English and French.
